This couple is heading to the Bahamas for a winter wedding!
We were honoured to photograph this intimate riverfront wedding recently.
A quiet walk in the nearby forest, a beautiful and symbolic ceremony, and the couple's closest friends.
We did a maternity shoot for good friends of ours this past week.
I am always sentimental about babies, but in particular, this couple's precious life which is growing stronger day by day.
These gentle parents experienced the unfathomable loss of their beautiful little girl this past winter. We all miss sweet Khloe's smile, and while there will always be a void in their family, it was an overwhelming joy to hear that our friends were expecting...to find out that Khloe is going to be a big sister!
J & K have had so, so much sorrow, and I am thankful that they have the hopeful promise of also having so much joy to hold soon.
Praying for your precious baby boy, and thankful for your family!

Sometimes...you just need a holiday.
The picture above is of our middle child who decided to pack his own bag while I was organizing our suitcases for a family trip. He stuffed a couple of important (to him) items in a messenger bag, strolled out to the car naked as the day he was born, and loaded up his prized possessions. Self-sufficient and proud as a peacock.
Because sometimes, it's just time for a break.
We packed up our Pathfinder and followed Aaron's parents, Bapa and Mini, in their truck, headed to Sault Ste. Marie where we planned to visit Aaron's brother Jared.
We took our time, stopping at parks and rest stops so the kids could stretch and play. Thankfully, our children have always been great travellers, and that coupled with Aaron rigging up the iPad to hang from the seat in front of the boys meant the driving went pretty smoothly. The only oversight was accidentally having only Swiss Family Robinson and Peter Pan loaded on the iPad.
Good thing they're the coolest movies ever!
Today we're sharing a glimpse of our delightful time spent
photographing the Owens family...
This family decided to have professional pictures done to celebrate Cindy's upcoming retirement...what a beautiful and precious way to commemorate this milestone!
Two dads, three sons...and a women's washroom.
We had been visiting with our friends when that time of the day rolled around.
Between our ginger friends and ourselves, there were five children, and they were getting hungry.
"It's a hot summer day, let's just take them all to Dairy Queen for supper!" someone suggested.
Aaron and I wrangled our three into the car, while Ethan and Brittany buckled their little ones into their own.
We made it to Dairy Queen, ordered, and everything went as it should. You know, losing a kid under the table, trying to discreetly clean up a shaker's worth of salt, using up a pack of wipes to ensure the kids and table each resembled what they were supposed to.
Like most stories, it starts at the beginning...
It's Monday around 8 pm, at the end of the the long weekend in May.
Don and Deb Nicholson, herein known as 'Bapa and Mini', are visiting their son Aaron and his family in the small town of Deep River, Ontario.
It's been a busy but wonderful day together, and Aaron and Amanda are sad to see them go. When the three grandchildren are tucked in for the night, the couple stands on the front porch waving good-bye.
Our middle man turned two last week!
I honestly can't believe how fast the time goes.
We decided to go away and relax with family to celebrate, Tirian loves his
extended family so it just made sense.
Some of you may remember when Aaron and his dad decided to make a table out of fallen cherry and poplar trees they found on his parents' property.
Well, over two years later...those trees have finally become our dining room table!!
And the result is stunning, my husband did such a beautiful job on this. I get all giddy every time I wipe the table after a meal...it's just so smooth and nice. The past couple of years the table has been set up and we've been using it while unfinished while the wood completely dried. It was so difficult to keep clean and everything soaked into the wood and stained it all the time...I can't even believe this is the same table!
Spring is blowing in! Have you felt it?
Aaron was making fun of me for spring cleaning like it was an Olympic event a couple of weeks ago, but you know what? Now I get to enjoy the gorgeous, melty weather guilt-free!
On Monday, it got up to 12 degrees here. The sun was out and the sound of snow dripping off the roof was music to our ears. The boys were delighted to play outside in hoodies, splashing around in puddles and cutting snow with their swords. They spent a good chunk of their outdoor time just sitting side-by-side on the front porch "having' a juicy snow snack." They were quite pleased with themselves for their resourcefulness in procuring a snack while playing outside. Does life get better than that?!
A little about us
This is not the exotic blog of a cultured world traveler.
This is the blog of a family whose life happens… at home.
We do everything here, and everyone is invited, because we want our home to be the place you can go to be a part of life in all its fullness.
And life in all its fullness means things are in constant motion.
Music happens here, school happens here, tattoos, wedding cakes, DIY roof demolitions, and even joyous births happen here!
At the Nicholson home, life is about creating, and it’s about bringing glory to the Creator.
We are excited to share our artistic journey with you, and hope it brings a smile to your face along the way.
Welcome to our home, to our studio…
